Welcome back! We hope your break was filled with rest, connection, and a little adventure. As we return for Term 3, there’s a wonderful buzz across our learning community – and a term full of exciting experiences to look forward to. Once again I am certain there will be some amazing things happening at GWSS!
Staffing
We welcome to GWSS, Maddison Thorpe, who is working in Year 4 for Term 3. Mr Hourigan is on leave this term. Matt Falconer will be returning to the LOTE role for the first 5 weeks as Mr K is relieving at another school. Mrs Thompson will take 3R every second Friday.
Early Childhood Developmental Program (ECDP)
Our ECDP is continuing to grow and we have additional sessions happening in Term 3 and 4, We have an extra 0.4 teacher and 24 hours of teacher aide support. We will also have a Guidance Officer for an extra day of support commencing next week.
Creative Generation
It was a great privilege to have some of our students participate in the Creative Generation performances last week! The performance will be televised later this year on Channel 10. Well worth the viewing!!! Congratulations Colleen and Nat, our amazing staff who supported the 25 Gympie students who participated!
District Athletics
Next week we have 22 students and three staff participating in the Gympie District Athletics Carnival. We know our students will represent GWSS with pride and strive to do their best for Gympie West!
Broncos Gala Day
The Year 2 and 3 Broncos Gala Day has been rescheduled to Wednesday 30 July. Mr Widdon will accompany our students.
Book Week – 27 August
Get ready for a celebration of stories! Book Week is a much-loved moment on the Gympie West State School calendar. With themed dress-ups, storytelling adventures and lots of book-inspired fun. Book Week encourages our students to dive deep into the world of imagination and ideas.

This year’s School Opinion Survey runs from 28 July to 22 August. Parents, carers, students in selected year levels, and staff have been emailed a link to participate. Your feedback will help us understand our school’s strengths and areas for improvement. Survey responses are confidential. 4/5M - Electricity
4/5M have been working on Electricity this term and have been investigating how to make simple electrical circuits. They were very excited completing their experiments to make a simple circuit and getting the bulb to light up.











Prep
Prep has been busy with a range of learning, including the world of Grug!
They have also been having fun with their own Bunnings Shop.
