The end of Term 3 has come around very quickly! It brings to a close a very productive time for our Gympie West SS community.
Many thanks to all parents and carers who have indicated they will be attending interviews with class teachers next week. It is great that so many families actively engage in their children’s learning. We are asking parents to use Sharrett’s 5 questions when discussing their child’s learning at school
- What did you learn today?
- How did you do?
- What did do you do if you did not understand?
- How can you improve your learning?
- What are you most proud of?
This week also sees the culmination of our Term 3 units and lecturette presentations. We look forward to our finalists delivering their final speeches next Wednesday, 17 September, at 9am. Thanks to our long-standing relationships with the Ex. P.O.W Association and P&C who support this event annually. We are excited to have our choir, concert band and string ensemble also performing.
Our PBL rewards is on Friday 19 September and we are extremely excited to celebrate our achievements this term.
We have a number of staff on leave over the next few weeks including Mrs Sly, Ms Manger and Mrs Ashton.
Construction will commence this week on the replacement air conditioners in the Library. This may impact access at break times for borrowing.
We thank you for your patience while this work is undertaken.
Have a great week!
Yours in education,
ABC Education writing competition - News In My Neighbourhood
Last term 4RD students entered the national ABC Education writing competition - News In My Neighbourhood
In the News In My Neighbourhood Competition, school students (Foundation to Year 12) from across Australia were invited to create and produce creative media responses to a series of news and information challenges. Term 2's challenge was to create a piece of writing, 100 words or less on the topic: From our best friends to our parents, our sporting heroes to our teachers, there are lots of special people who make our lives great! In the Term 2 Primary Challenge, students in Foundation to Year 6 told us all about the important people in their lives.
We're so excited to announce that Gracie from 4RD was announced a national winner with her piece on her Aunty Michelle.
Further exciting news, Blair , was announced a national runner-up with her piece about her dad.
Congratulations - an amazing achievement!
Congratulations to our amazing Aussie of the Month students who were presented with their special awards on parade.
