Hello to our GWSS Families,
It’s been quite the start to our term – although it has been a bit disruptive having so many short weeks with public holidays, our students have hit the ground running and their learning this term is off to a great start.
Cross-Country
Our little athletes hit the track this term to compete in our inter-school Cross Country competition. All students participated to the best of their abilities and did themselves proud – it was a bit of a run!
Pink stumps donation
A big thank you to our amazing community for supporting our raffle and donating – this week we presented our total of $1004 to the lovely Sharon, a McGrath nurse from The McGrath Foundation. A truly amazing foundation that we will continue to support.
Year 5 Camp
Our annual Year 5 camp is fast approaching (Week 9). If you are yet to return your child’s expressions of interest form and would like them to attend, please return this to the office ASAP. If you are needing a new form, please see the office staff.
Winter uniforms
As the temperature is beginning to get colder – students will be wearing jumpers to school. It is recommended that jumpers are to be black or red in colour and also have your child’s name written on the tag.
Have a great fortnight!

Issue 3 of Book Club has now gone home, orders due back by Monday 12 May.
The PRC is not a competition, but a way to encourage students to develop a love of reading for life. Students are encouraged to select a range of fiction and non-fiction books suited to their reading ability and record books read during the reading period, from 6 May to 22 August.
To complete the challenge:
- Prep to Year 2 must read or experience at least 20 books.
- Years 3 and 4 must read at least 20 books.
- Years 5 to 9 must read at least 15 books.
Experiencing books can include shared reading, listening to stories, or reading picture books. The aim for the 2025 challenge is to encourage students to make time to read. Last year saw more than 216,000 children from around the state participate.
Book suggestions are available on the PRC website: https://prc.median.com.au/BookList
