Cross Country
Gympie West State School once again hosted its annual inter-house school cross country the first week back in Term 2.
1. Witham house won with 148 points.
2. Thomas came second with 142 points.
3. Mellor came third with 120 points.
The spirit award went to Mellor house for their loud cheering and sportsmanship.
Thankyou to all the parents and supporters who attended. A special big thankyou to James Nash seniors who came and assisted. Also thanks to the P&C for the ice blocks given on the day.





Gympie District Cross Country Trials
Children who have been selected in our school team are Brax, Jaxson, Vance, Korben, Fraser, Everlyn, Aubree, Tate, Alexander, Jayden, Tiarna, Tundi, Phaedra, Harley, Theo, Jackson, Ronan, Jonathan and Zari. These students have been invited to compete at the Gympie District Cross Country trials on Tuesday 13 May at One Mile Ovals.

Shield Winners
This years Shield Winners:
- Junior shield cross country champions: Frankie and Owen
- Intermediate cross country champions: Baxter and Jada
- Senior champions: Brax and Everlyn
Volleyball
Gympie West State School Volleyball Team played their first game against Victory College. Victory won but our team played well.
Tino Fa'asuamaleaui Cup
On Wednesday 30 April we had students represent Gympie West at the Tino Fa'asuamaleaui Cup. The students played tackle rugby league games. 
Swimming
This term Year 1 and Year 3 will be taking part in swimming, students will attend Deep Blue Aquatics for five sessions as part of our school swimming program.
Athletics Carnival
Finally, this term, Physical Education lessons will focus on preparation for our annual Gympie West Athletics carnival in week 10. Our main day is Thursday 26 June.
