This week bring us to the end of our first term of 2025!

We had many significant events happening this week including parent teacher interviews and colour run. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind enough for cross country, which will now be held on the first week back, Wednesday 23 April!

Our School Photos Day will also now be held in Term 2, on Tuesday 29 April.

Our Preps have settled into formal school very quickly and are excelling in their learning. Our school data is improving in many areas and includes our attendance which has increased to 91.5% for Term 1. We have also had an increase in the number of students receiving an A or B in English for Term 1. Congratulations to all students on their improved focus on learning this Term.

A special mention to the Year 3 and 5 students who have also been involved in the national NAPLAN testing over the past two weeks.

Staffing
Lori McPherson has appointed Principal at Cooroy State School. Congratulations to Lori! We will now be able to progress appointing a permanent Deputy Principal at GWSS. 

Darin May will be leaving GWSS at the end of Term 1. He and his family have relocated further west. Darin has a new teaching role at Wondai State School. We wish them all the best. Many thanks for your work at GWSS!

Mrs Hayes and Mrs Tompkins have formally retired from the end of Term 1. We wish them all the best in their new phase.

Miss Brianna and Miss Jo-Dee are also leaving to pursuit new adventures. Thanks for all they have done at GWSS!

OHSC

EV Charging Station
Some of our families may be aware we are receiving a new EV charging station at the front of the school carpark. We appreciate your understanding while construction is underway and we will advise any changes as required.

ANZAC Parade
We will be having our school ANZAC parade on Thursday 24 April at 9am on the school oval.
