Principal's News
The end of Term 3 has arrived! It brings to a close a very productive time for our Gympie West SS community.
Many thanks to all parents and carers who attended interviews with class teachers this week. It is great that so many families actively engage in their children’s learning.
We are asking parents to use Sharrett’s 5 questions when discussing their child’s learning at school
- What did you learn today?
- How did you do?
- What did do you do if you did not understand?
- How can you improve your learning?
- What are you most proud of?
This week also sees the culmination of our Term 3 units and Lecturette presentations. We enjoyed the finalists speeches on Wednesday morning. Thanks to our long standing relationships with the Ex. P.O.W Association and P&C who support this event annually. We were very excited to have our concert band perform as well.
Our PBL Reward will be held tomorrow, last session. It will be a whole school amazing race and we are extremely excited to celebrate our achievements this term.
We have had a number of staff on leave this week including Mrs Sly, Mrs Ashton and Ms Manger. Welcome back to Ms Wall who is returning as DRT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Our Resource Centre has had new air conditioners installed this week. Mr Ian’s office has also been refurbished.
The Preps were very excited about their excursion to the Ginger Factory today and Prep to Year 2 had an awesome time at Roadcraft this week.
Years 4 and 6 have camps next term, and Years 5 and 6 have swimming. It will certainly be a busy end of year for everyone.
Blue card changes came in on 20 September.
These changes include:
- parent volunteers will require blue cards if:
- services or activities do not include their own child
- they attend overnight excursions or camps
- close personal contact may occur with another child (such as assisting with toileting, bathing or dressing).
- external businesses providing services in schools or to children will need a blue card.
